[Tuto] Create smart home scenes in Domoticz
Several weeks ago, I proposed several articles presenting smart home products: door/window sensor, motion detector, smoke detector, electrical dimmer, electrical switch... In each of these articles, I told you that these modules are even more useful if they are used to create scenarios and events. So it's time to talk to you a little bit about these famous scenarios in Domoticz.
Create scenes in Domoticz
A scene is actually a kind of chain reaction. For example, an Aqara door window sensor switches to the open position, so the light will be switched on. Imagine all the possibilities you will have!
We will take up the above idea a little and establish a scene of the type: "Open" door window sensor causes the dimmer to switch on "ON", with a level of 40%.
After logging into your Domoticz system, click on the menu bar at the top on Scenes, then on the right on the Create Scenario button.
The first thing to do is to give your scene a name and choose the type. Two options are available to you:
Scene: this type of scene allows you to mix actions: switch some devices to On, others to Off, modify a dimmer etc. He's the most flexible type.
Group: this type of scene allows all devices to be switched to the same state at the same time (On or Off). It is therefore more limited than scene scenarios.
So give your scene a rather explicit name. In our example, I will name my scene "Corridor Light ON". Choose its type and click on Create a scenario.
We will now define the content of this scene. Click on the Edit button of the newly created scene.
If you wish, you can enter a description in the field provided. It is also possible to declare scripts to be executed at the same time as the scene. For our example, we will keep it simple and ignore this possibility.
The activation device
We will now define an activation device, i.e. a trigger element of the scene. Still to make it simple in our example, we will use only one activation device. But be aware that it is possible to define several of them. In the Activation devices section of Domoticz, click on Add a device.
Here, it will be necessary to activate a switch, which will be the trigger of the scene. In my case, I therefore open the door on which the opening detector is located.
The switch then appears in the activation devices.
Repeat the operation if you want to add more activation devices.
The devices
Well, then, in terms of headings, it's not so good. Yes, the first part is called activation devices and the second part is called devices. These are the modules that will be activated by the activation device(s). I hope I didn't lose you with that sentence.... In short!
I will therefore define here a 40% start-up of the drive, as indicated above. In the Device drop-down menu, I choose my drive: Chacon 300W drive.
Below, in the Command drop-down menu, I will choose to turn it on. I therefore select ON.
Finally, since it is a drive, I set the level to 40%.
It is possible to set a delay for switching on or off. For example, when the door and window sensor is triggered, I wait 30 seconds before acting on the drive. Or, when the sensor is triggered, I turn on the drive at 40% for 2 minutes, after which it will switch back to off mode.
I think you now have all the keys to create your own scene in Domoticz based on the modules you have.
